i love this book so much but i keep getting tripped up on the fact that they’re on a spontaneous road trip and there has been no talk of showering or brushing teeth or changing clothes. guys please it’s been a week and you’re 4 states from home please

two people who Do Not understand one another and who put in little effort to do so try to make it work. and also there’s bad and passively written magic ? and also the same people i’m complaining about are writing their stories down for the book feeler to piece together 30 years later ? just write the book from the couple’s pov i’m so annoyed at this

i would have more sympathy for these characters if they were written better. belle is the definition of a white woman who wishes everyone could just get along. girl it’s ww2 and your dad is hanging out with nazis. hemy is a reporter. they fall in love. nobody is shocked when it comes out he is just trying to get close to her for a story about her rich dad.
