Not hating this so far. The writing style is simple but alright. The banter in the first chapter went on a little long and edged into slight cringe.

Third Trial was def a lil more intense

This book legit reads like the hunger games. It’s different obviously but just the tone and pacing of everything

I forgot Carissa’s books have some of the only Romantasy love interests I can actually stomach lol.

Ya’ll haven’t outdone Max from War of Lost Hearts (no character will lmao) but I don’t dislike these two. I didn’t dislike Raihn and Oraya either.

Also…I have no idea if and how this novella will have a happy ending

I’m not quite feeling the stakes within the Trials themselves yet (they’ve seemed kinda…easy? So far?) and I’m not entirely sure what the point of the Trials even is (bigger picture wise) BUT I am honestly enjoying this so far. The characters read very naturally and feel like normal real people instead OP caricatures

Glad I’m giving this one another shot. Enjoying it so far. Also Dante seems like an a hole BUT the kind who was merely raised privileged and has some waking up to do. (Istg if he turns into a basic possessive Romantasy mmc imma be mad. I’m enjoying their interactions so far)

So far there’s been nothing happening but chats and Edward being possessive.

Considering this is only chapter one and this is pitched as GoT meets gladiator…all of these people, or his family at least, are totally fucked aren’t they

Ok first thoughts:
1. this narrator is great
2. This ‘prologue’ is too dang long
3. The battle scene is pretty cool but too dang long for a prologue (for me at least). I’m not too immersed with these characters yet.

is no one gonna talk about Bella viewing the Indigenous Quileutes as a ‘cult’ as a problem but doesn’t view her precious Morm—*ahem* the Cullens as a cult? Are we not going to discuss that this sorta reflects real Mormon history of slaughtering the ‘pagan’ Native Americans to colonize Utah…😀

I like how she’s like ‘wait why is Jacob and all of his family insinuating they know about vampires’ GURL HE’S THE ONE WHO TOLD U THE LEGEND IN THE FIRST BOOK! HE’S THE ONLY REASON YOU EVER THOUGHT “vampire” IN THE FIRST PLACE. YOU BOUGHT THE VAMPIRE BOOK FROM A STORE OWNED BY NATIVE PEOPLES! (yes I’m Jacob didn’t actually believe it but come ON Bella)
