Larson is always very readable and compelling, which, sometimes history books aren't. Enjoying this one.

Forcing myself through, it had redeeming qualities, and proceeds to worthy causes. In the vein of Jack Reacher type. But...too much military jargon, and machismo.

This book is terrible, I might not finish it.

Do you enjoy Hallmark Christmas movies? This book might be right for you! I'm actually enjoying it as a little something lighthearted with just a bit of the supernatural thrown in...courtesy of Shyamalan I'm sure...which is the reason I checked out the book in the first place.

Not typical Kingsolver, which is why I've had several false starts with this one. This attempt is more appealing to me after spending time in some of the areas highlighted by the novel. Story of a young person in poverty and foster care. At halfway through, I'm really rooting for life to improve and turn out okay for the main character.

Don't get too attached to the characters!

Being an old book, it contains outdated ideas and language. Yet despite that..it is a good overview of some things about Canads.
