Characters are distant. Hard to connect with. Sometimes the story is set in a place then out of no where the setting has automatically changed without telling the reader. Times in the book, Rose has asked the policeman about what they have found out about the two murder cases, which is confidential information, that no policeman should share with any civilian, but this police man did. Twice. Just not realistic
