As someone who does not know the first thing about the history of Islam, I appreciate the conversational tone that the book takes. It’s a good starting point in understanding the dense complexities of Muslim history.

Real talk right here:

“When someone sees the same people every day...they wind up being a part f the person’s life. And then they want the person to change. If someone isn’t what others want them to be, the others become angry. Everyone seems to have a clear idea of how other people should lead their lives, but none about his or her own.”

So far, it's really good. I just finished the part that delineated the successes of the Tea Party and the Occupy movement. This is a must read for anyone considering action.
