Are we really supposed to take the trials rhyming clues seriously?

So she's been living on the streets for 5 years, starving and scraping by. Yet, she's also a strong enough fighter to hold her own against someone who's been training since birth AND can sense daggers behind thrown at her head from behind.

But she ALSO trips over rugs because she'd not paying attention when spending time with the man who is known kingdom-wide for hunting down and killing people like her.

Idk, Violet, I don’t think it’s out of hand to ask for proof beyond simply your word when a person is being sentenced to DEATH. But that’s just me.

So while this isn't nearly as grating as I found the entirety of the Scholomance series (the last thing I read in the "schools where it's totally cool if kids/young adults die at super high rates" genre), Violet is... testing my patience.

I don't know that I love the tone this book has set in regards to murder. I get what the author's doing, but I just don't think I'm in the right head space to appreciate it.

The school is trying to kill everyone and everyone hates El. I GET IT.

Slight problem. I put this down for a couple months. I picked it up again at about the 50% mark... and I can not for the life of me remember anything about any of the characters who aren't the two leads.

Mickey's Irish 'dialect' may actually kill me. It's PAINFUL.
