Who made the decision to have a British narrator for a book with an American protagonist? I know Americans suck at British accents too, and I don't mind a mediocre accent for like a side character, but a bad accent in a main character is too much! This narrator just can't do a reasonable American accent and it's quite world breaking for me.

I keep trying to find something that will quell my Murderbot fix. Not sure this is it, though. The sarcasm doesn't have enough depth behind it to give me that gut punch of laughter and absurdity, and it doesn't really add to the characterization or relationship building. But who knows, I'll see where it goes.

Even the forward of this book made me cry as it acknowledged the lived experiences of myself & some of my clients without universally dismissing them as psychosis. It is validating to see IFS leaders genuinely researching and exploring their clients' (often traumatic) experiences of unattached burdens/malicious entity attacks to find effective, data driven, clinically appropriate ways to help them heal. 😭

Marshaaa please make a audiobook version of this! 😭

I have always wanted Irish mythology to get more exposure in pop culture, but I have mixed feelings about playing this fast and loose with it. Even significantly altering the names of the Mórrígan sisters. Not to mention that this is quite Americanized. But perhaps I can't have it all. I'm determined to finish this because us Irish mythology fans and followers don't see a lot of these kinds of books.

This book is a delightful casserole of chaotic good, but DAMN this larper gets a lot of side quests. Also, I kinda feel like we all could use a little of that Don Quixote energy right now - unshakable optimism, determined to live the vision of the world we want to be in. ⚔️

This will resonate with some readers and probably would have for me at one point. But this honestly just came off as preachy to me. Like, "here are the correct opinions" vibes. It's not that I disagree with every point, but it feels a little black and white for topics that are beautifully complex. But as a pretty grounded spiritual worker, I'm probably not the target audience for this book. Doubt I'll finish it.
