Imagine fighting in the greatest and biggest war of modern history, in the shit, piss and blood of ravaged pacific islands, getting wounded, and then coming home. Only for a few years later to develop a sense of prose that can switch between surreal and simply beautiful. Our late Mr. Leckie seems to have done that

Svidrigailov (did I spell that right?) is kinda like the Judge from Blood Meridian. Kinda, not really. Anyways, I should finally be done this in 2-3 more sittings. :,-)

Hello! After about 5 months not reading (staring at screens instead), i’m sort of halfway back. I’ve been trying to fit a chapter a day in, but the quotidian nature of life seems to fuck me up. It’s hard, ok? But goddamn is the book so solid. I’m getting a bit anxious because gonna miss Razumikhin (Rodya too). Anyways, too all of my delco homies holding it down, reading 3 books a month, you are epic.

The only times i’ve been able to read full length novels uninterrupted was in elementary school. I would absolutely fuck up like three Percy Jackson books in a matter of days only to follow up and read the first generation of the Warrior books… now, i’m well past the second half of this book, but unable to consistently make progress. Wish me luck as I slowly finish this magnum opus… f*ck Lebeziatnikov… lol

For some reason, a confluence of personal ‘crises’ and changes left me yearning for some guidance. While I could have turned to the bible or the quran, and I decided to read this monster of a book.

I have trouble reading novellas, let alone normal novels, but for some reason haven’t had much trouble reading hundreds of pages of this in a few weeks.

Probably because Dostoyevsky is.. Dostoyevsky

Currently in a crawl space at work. Looking at a rotten hosebib that turned into a stalagmite. In a way, that hosebib represents the opposite of Werther’s attitude at this point in the book. Though, Goethe continues to foreshadow some sort of fall… a leak in the copper… what am I even doing at this point lol

Rambert’s struggles... trying to get back to his love.. and losing sight of what he’s fighting for.. very well chronicled in the latter half of the second part. Part three is a bit grim, people finna be dying so much. Cheers

Tarrou distinguished himself as a man I may very well model myself after.
