Reminded me of accuracy vs precision in physics, one of the first things taught in high school. A juicy read with parallel tales exploring the place of the objective truth and subjective memories in an individual's life and the broader society.

A short and poetic piece, originally written to accompany an art installation. Parrots, you be good too!

The Lifecycle of Software Objects

A long story and the most thought-provoking one so far. The theme of inventions being just advanced enough to spark serious questions continues, but this time we see the tech evolve over several years. Also, Chiang's take on AI (which I was curious about) seems to be pragmatic and humane -- experience is incompressible, and it would do us good to treat AI with care and respect.

2. Exhalation and 3. What is Expected of Us

Enjoying the delivery of cosmic copium so far. In all three stories, the worlds have just the right amount of hyper-advancement to allow their inhabitants to grapple with implications. Time travel is possible, but only for a few seconds or years. A breakthrough has been achieved, but its full range of applications is not yet apparent. Curious about Chiang's take on AI now!

The Merchant and the Alchemist's Gate

A really enjoyable predestination-type time travel story. The Arabian Nights-like narration works really well.

This is the kind of shit my friends and I used to imagine and roleplay as teens. Kanan Gill just turned it into a witty parody of the funny world we live in.

Always fun when Logic takes a day off

Sir Terry's amusement per page numbers are off the charts.

The book has been a breeze so far. Witty observations and endearing characters. Very 'chirpy', as the person who lent me the hardcover likes to call it.

Read The Herb of Death: I need to keep reminding myself that these stories are meant to be mysteries and not puzzles. They're never perfectly deducible, but almost always quite enjoyable.

Read A Christmas Tragedy: Who doesn't like a good old holiday whodunnit!

Read The Harlequin Tea Set (because it's Agatha Christie's birth anniversary): Colorful writing, but the plot had teething troubles. Not the smartest mystery you'll find, but a fun quick read nonetheless.
