ok plot is going somewhere now but prose is still bad. mix of real and fake locations/history is giving LLM hallucination. also feels unrealistic for them to be saying location names in full, eg Queensland Institute of Medical Research

Reading bc it was rec'd by a lot of coworkers, but my team leader hated it. Feels a bit like sci-fi Dan Brown so far.

My coworker told me he just started this book that was recommended to him by another coworker, and it's also one of the team leaders' faves. He described it as a "shojo isekai" so I was like sure that sounds like something I could enjoy. Next day I walk into the tissue culture room, he's talking about a "sex festival" scene with that coworker. So of course I had to read it.

thought to myself, “huh this kinda reminds me of my company” and then the next day, the employee experience coordinator put copies of this book around the office
