He saw!

Beloved seems to have taken to Sethe quite easily, listening but mostly speaking in riddles. This “woman” beacons for stories buried beyond the reaches of histories yet as ostentatious as dust on a neglected 200 year old lamp.

Time to awaken the final ten.

Things are unfolding, only a little. I’m enjoying it.

I’m confusion 😝

Intrigued already, as I should be.

I’ve had trepidations about reading this book because I knew there would be otherworldly creatures. I didn’t know if I could take the descriptions. So far, I’m feeling just fine in Ms. Butler’s capable hands.

Loving:
for once, the highlight is the retribution of the enslaved souls

Same gender loving representation because it has always and will always exist

Concise storytelling

Not loving:
Something I can’t put a name to is amiss. I’m invested in the comeuppance but find myself cheated out of getting to know the main characters more fully

More of the same with some expedition of the plot

I don’t love the gratuitous overwriting. It really slows things down.

Things are progressing rather slowly. Too much belabored exposition.

Without the admonishment of friends, I trespass into this new territory trembling. I hope I do not regret this.

Saw that twist coming a mile away. Still here for the rest of the ride.
