Hopey and Maggie 😭

So far somewhat lighter in tone compared to the previous Palomar books, and a lot more narrow in scope. Which all ends up making the darker moments that are here feel even more startling? Venus as a little girl has more internal monologues than any character Beto has written before. Reminds me of what Jaime does with Maggie.

In order to get to some of the best cartooning you'll ever see..........you first have to read "mechanics" again

“Heartbreak soup” is a really bleak and upsetting, but also surprisingly meditative and soulful story. He hasn’t quite found his voice visually yet but I liked this a lot more than Jaime’s early stuff - honestly so moving
