This book is so awesome

Finally the human POV chapters start pulling their weight

I really love the spiders’ narrative and really don’t care at all about the humans’

Right now I’m feeling like there’s a lot of elements and we’re being spread too thin a bit; I think it might have been stronger to have closer focus on fewer things

This is starting out kinda bad; I’m hoping it ends up being good enough to justify it

Ruth Ozeki loves to write books about women writing to each other (letters, diaries, books, poems, emails, faxes) and I love to read them

The gender politics in this is SO good for ya, very satisfying

I did NOT think through reading a zombie apocalypse book where all the characters are animals, it takes me COMPLETELY by surprise every time an animal gets hurt 😹😹😹

i don't think anything i've ever read has hit as hard as "would you destroy this world to save a better one"

literally the concept of the typer twins, identical, archenemies, BUT so committed to being identical that they singed off their fingerprints & watch each others lives through their trackers so no one can catch one by talking about something that happened to the other; like all of that, and they're still SUPER minor characters? theres literally so much going on that THATS not interesting enough for more than 1 page?

bro there's way too many characters & relationships in this thing, and i'm reading on a kindle so i can't easily flip back to the character pages at the beginning 😩😩

:(((!!!!! *spoilers* i should have known that in a book of necromancy, the jovial pleasant character would die though, that's on me for getting attached

*spoilers* the first 10% set up an upbeat urban fantasy with a wolf pack of quirky fun friends in a quirky cute city, and then they were all brutally murdered and now it's a gritty murder mystery procedural. i really loved the bait and i'm really hating the switch! probably will dnf when my next library book becomes available
