Found parts of the “Proteus” episode to be maddening in their complexity, but I remain consistently astounded by Joyce’s descriptive voice. Still believe it was reasonable to approach this tepidly (at first) but it’s proving to be quite rewarding in spite of the headiness of the endeavor.

It’s incredible that Knausgaard’s account of throwing up in Björk’s toilet is treated as little more than humorous aside - I’d carry a memory like that with me for an eternity
