This is a third or fourth re-read. It's vintage Vance. You either love him, he is an acquired taste, due to his rich and often eccentric vocabulary, or you hate him. I've been reading his books since the early seventies, and I'm sad he's no longer with us. However, his books remain to be re-read or discovered for the first time.
