In all my times visiting New York I’ve never once run into this guy, he might be a fraud

I’ve leveled up in my philosophy/lit journey to where I feel comfortable reading Foucault, and let me tell you, what a banger this is. I have always wanted to be executed in public, and this is like smut for me

Eugene is such a beast. Yet another helpful foray into the works of D&G

Honestly this book fucking sucks. Stilted romance, zero hints of a shared universe, no quotes around dialogue. Characters are sad all the time, can’t imagine why because artists should be happy about being able to make cool paintings. Still no clue what “The Recognitions” refers to because no characters have said the phrase aloud while pointing at something.

Worst of all, the characters never use their phones

I’m tearing through this book. The most pages I’ve read in a single day in months. Pretty great!

Chug chug chugging along. I can’t believe I ever had this book marked as ‘Read’. My first time through was just a series of eye movements over glyphs that sometimes evoked a discrete, momentary image, but never anything even remotely approximating a ‘reading’

For those wondering where their favorite Goodreads user has gone off to, worry not, I’ve been rereading the greatest book of all time. Turns out, I barely understood any of it the first time through. This reread is much more fruitful

It’s funny - this was the Pynchon book I was least excited to read. Heard the least amount of hype about it, squished between GR and M & D, it had the impossible task of keeping the hype going while I fumble through this man’s bibliography.

Yet I feel like I’m falling in love all over again. As with a lot of books I come to cherish, I couldn’t have started reading this one at a better time

Making good progress on this jawn. Trying to be more deliberate about the books I pick up, honing in on ones I know I’ll actually finish. For those following along at home, next up in the queue after I finish this and Vineland is to start the Recognitions back from the beginning

This one’s a real toughie, I’m needing to slow down considerably in order to get anything out of it. When I do, though, it’s a real charmer

I was going to save this for my review but if I’m sighing out loud, that’s a good sign I need to tell my thirsty Goodreads followers what’s up.

I can tolerate a little bit of “she boobed boobily” writing, and Murakami specifically pushes the envelope of what I’ll put up with, but I am becoming a femcel! Take your dick out of your hand bro! Stop talking about titties! Never thought I’d say that out loud

Metaphor metaphor metaphor metaphor metaphor.
I keep hearing about people taking this book to be a meditation on unrelenting US imperialism and the chapter I just finished is HAUNTING, both in of itself and especially when viewed from that lens. It’s like Melville watched America’s future for the next 200 years and then tried to communicate it to us through a book who’s prescience would reveal itself in time
