part 1 is well made cute and smart but nothing exceptional. part 2 starts and the first two sections do this thing when Vin Diesel grabs the stick shift and everything becomes awesome. the equivalent of being lured into a pattern in a boxing match to get knocked out round 3 by a masterful, elegant and destructive combination.

something quite interesting - as much as the book wants to criticize upper class white liberalism, there is at his heart an obsession to be good. Someone IS a "political failure" or "political success". Status, as something that can be showcased, wielded and that protects from shame and makes one "valid".
