I'm honestly burning time until "This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me" comes out

Listening to the graphic audio version on my drive home. Still early on but I remember this one being a very slow start, with a pick-up in the second half.

This was a free ebook so I figured, why not? I need more un-serious nonsense.

I might be making a mistake by reading a romcom right now? I feel like I need something lighthearted but I'm unsure if this is what will keep my interest at the moment. We'll see!

Funny that I picked this up from a sale rack not knowing it's YA lol. I just figured "eh, why not?" As far as YA goes it's actually not half bad. At least it's really short so hopefully I'll finish it soon.

I started reading this on a flight and I'm glad I had a few hours to just blaze through as much of it as I could. Damn it's good.

Oh man this is good so far. The pacing is great and I'm 100% creeped out. Never read body horror but here we are.

This is borderline Mary-Sue YA but Lara's shortfalls really do well to keep the series from edging too far into SJM-esque ultimate-woman-assassin territory. There's also many side characters that I am enjoying.

These dummies are literally acting in every way like a couple, but insist they're not lol

Funnily enough I wasn't expecting to jump back into this series bc I thought book 1 was very "OK" but this one is waaaay better! I never knew I needed a goth chick x cowboy combo!

NGL I ate up the first book, but this one just isn't hitting the same. Maybe because Rhagos's aspect makes the dialogue a bit of a slog, but also I feel like both of these books, while such easy reads, are about 150 pages too long for the stories that they tell. I have a weird love/critical relationship with the Aspect and Anchor books I guess.

NGL I'm struggling a bit. The writing is hard to follow and feels like it needed another round of editing. There's also a LOT of named characters that get little page time then get referenced again several pages later. Feeling quite lost but the enemies-that-will-be-lovers are now tied at the hip, so maybe it'll pick up.

I don't want to be at work I want to finish this book 🥲

NGL it took a while for this to really get interesting. First half is a bit of a slog outside Freddie's plot.

Dramatically shifting away from romance to a nonfiction that I think is very relevant to the upcoming election cycle. I've had this book on my TBR for a while and finally snagged a copy, so I'm excited to dive deeper.

I'm thoroughly invested in this story and I'm a little boggled why the book isn't rated higher. This is filling a Gillian Flynn sized hole in my life.

This one started off so strong with "The White Cat's Divorce" but the subsequent stories just haven't hit at the same level. Taking a break but will see if I come back to finish it.

Can *definitely* tell Yarros had this story planned as 2 books. Part I had a clear story arc, rising action, climax, and resolution. Then Part II starts and it's kind of a "reset" button.
