UGH the reread of this really hits from the beginning.

Why have I never heard this book described as Gothic?! (is eco-Gothic a thing? It should be) Because that is exactly what it is giving in the best way!

How did Florence + the Machine release a song that perfectly sums up the vibe of this book at the exact time to accompany my reading it? (Old Religion, if you’re curious)

This book has no right being this boring. It would have been so good if it were like half the length.

This is SO different from any of my expectations. Jane is lively and relatable. We’re only just now meeting Mr. Rochester. And I am really enjoying this! Why did no one tell me that Jane Eyre is Lizzie Bennet coded??

If there’s one thing Adrienne Young knows how to do, it’s write a book that is perfect for September.

Even knowing that Henry is alive and well, the use of past tense in this book is STRESSING ME OUT

I genuinely can not tell if the author has fully drank Breitwieser’s Kool-Aid and thinks he’s rad or if the author wrote it like that on purpose so that the reader has to put together the bullshit on their own.

I am already giggling

I can already tell that the “romance” between these two characters is going to be bad. But I want to live vicariously through their European Food Tour summer vacation more than I care about an annoying guy.

Oh no. I fear I might hate this one upon the reread.

This book feels like a polar opposite to “Call Me By Your Name”. Sapphic, repressed, mature. While still also maintaining the central obsession and desire. Oof I am loving it.

Why is this book synopsis trying to gaslight me into thinking that Mariel “accidentally” kidnapped Clem? She very much on purpose did? A few times, in fact? Also, when am I supposed to start liking Mariel?

Screaming, crying, throwing up in this cubicle.

Reading YA is all fun and games until it’s the climax and the clues are so obvious but none of the characters can rub 2 brain cells together.

The audiobook narrator’s voice is the nicest thing I’ve ever heard.

I’ve spent the whole last half of this year reading this for work, so you can bet I’m going to count it for my goodreads goal. I’ve never been happier to have only one chapter left in a book.
