Welp, thank goodness for the skip button. I was going to give this book 5 stars, but I really didn't want details about her friend's embarrassing bathroom experience.

Okay, I get he has no sisters. But does he really think she's going to want to learn to shoot? She can't even dance in public without a panic attack and so far he's been wrong with everything he's suggested they do for "fun."
I hope he gets a clue at some point.

K, here's a character I definitely connect with, lol.

I recognized the narrator's voice instantly--and cringed. Not my favorite narrator.

Are bad words becoming the norm in sweet romances?

I don't think it could've gotten closer to a striptease and still missed.
Oddly professional, except where it wasn't.

"Looks like a textbook case of death by (spoiler)."
2 minutes later: "Diagnosing death by (spoiler) is very difficult." as he flips in a completely different direction.

Also, I'm giving this book one more swear word before I DNF.

K, these girls (no idea how old the other 2 are) are creepy. They stand and watch people make out? gag

The narrator is killing me. It's only 2 words, but still.
"Fragrance" isn't pronounced like "fragment."
And "vague" isn't pronounced like "vagabond."

I've never heard anyone ruin a proposal so badly. I'd walk away from him so fast it'd make his head spin.

Okay. Props for a legit reason for their struggle.

He...thinks he's the group leader? For reals?

I'm not connecting with any of these characters. So far the bully is the only one I understand anything about and I don't like him.

If he gets on the, "But I was in love with her before I met you, it's not my fault!" merry-go-round one more time, I'm going to lose any respect I may or may not still have for this guy.

She can't think of any reply to the housekeeper.
How about, "I admire your dedication to your previous mistress. However, if you are incapable of following my simple instructions, I will be happy to write you a recommendation so you may find employment elsewhere."

I'm afraid by now the FMC is coming across as rather spineless.

I'm getting tired of the swear words. It's only been 2 or so, but I wasn't expecting any at all.
And now, after spending a page thinking over why he hadn’t danced with the princess, he can't remember why he didn't dance with her? I could understand him not wanting to tell the queen his reasons, but to apparently just go blank? That doesn't feel right.

Whoa. That was weird. For a couple of minutes, the narrator would read a line in one accent and then reread the exact same line in a different accent. And do the same thing with the next line.

I already know what's happening and am a bit baffled that the 'investigator' doesn't. I get that he holds himself to a higher standard, etc., but he's been investigating the aristocracy's seamier side for 6 years. How can he be so dense?
Meanwhile, I'm trying not to get sick thinking about what the author has made obvious.

K, that seems a tad obvious. I'll post again if I was right or wrong, without giving away the plot point.

I don't mind that she's getting left speechless or taken off guard or not as quick on her feet as she thinks she is. But does it have to get mentioned every 5 minutes to remind me that she's apparently a lot lamer than she'd like to be?

She still thinks she's smart. I mean. I'm not even prepared to dispute that. She's done relatively well for someone who might as well have been dropped on a foreign planet.
I think I'm just tired of hearing about it, particularly after she's been proved wrong. Again.

Nope, that's it. He's finally got a lead on his missing sister and he's retreating like a whipped puppy because of...manners?
If he's going to be involved at all, instead of letting the police handle it, and if he's supposedly driving himself to near collapse, he ought to stick to his guns.

Sorry, but these characters don't make a whole lot of sense at this point.
Destruction of property doesn't fit the previous behavior and, frankly, it's not a remotely proportionate response.
Has the character gone insane?

Sheesh, what a pansy he is.

He's a very odd male lead.
Hopefully the author will explain sooner, rather than later, why he had such a weird upbringing.
