Pleasantly surprised! So glad my book club is reading this. I would have never picked it up if it wasn’t for them!

Blowing my mind. These folks are under the direct control of the president. Our elite military is allowed to do whatever they want-drugs, alcohol, breaking the law, violence, etc. They are supposed to be elite disciplined military forces we send places. Can you imagine if we let our best surgeons, ER doctors, teachers, police officers, etc do whatever they want? Justifying it bc you need a certain type “crazy??”

Jack Astor was gross. Took an interest in a SEVENTEEN year old who was 29 years younger than he was. His son from his first marriage was about 1 1/2 years older than her. He essentially dating women of the age his son could have been dating.

Amazing. Never thought I would be grateful to be reading this book.

The characters in the book are so beautifully bleak. And the stuff they do! It makes me shake my head and say “noooooo” me but it’s real life!

I feel awful for saying this. I am enjoying this sysfyvtional family-how they don’t talk, how they negotiate or don’t negotiate conflict, etc. And having read Brooklyn, I am enjoying how Ellis has developed a spine!

Putting it down, it is getting tedious. Not for me.

Trying it again but audiobook this time! Much better. Slightly slow at first without tension driving my desire to listen and now that Susan is at the house, I’m curious to see if she can keep the con going.

It’s getting soooooo cheesy and predictable. Putting it on pause for another nook.

Having the best time listening to the audiobook. I excited and disappointed I only have 3 days left on the library loan. This means I can binge!

Oh jeeze… the romantic writing has gone to absurdity. I am about to start laughing out loud.
And no vampire gets their wings pinned to a wall, beaten to a pulp, and scorched by the sun and then is capable to making passionate Harlequin romance sex for hours. Skip. Skip. Skip…i am actually wanting to put this audiobook down!

Some of the writing is ridiculous “I hate you because I don’t.” Wtf is this?!?! I hate you because I don’t hate you?!? Makes no sense! Slipping these parts and returning to the plot.

She is such a stupid twit!!

Interesting. Some of the chapters are way too long and take away from the tension of the court case.

I feel like there is something missing in this book.

I don’t find this book as monumental as everyone says. I am over half done and could leave it. The pace is getting tedious. Just get seduction over with Sabine! Just bite her!

This book is amazing how it occurs over several days before a battle. I didn’t find it as confusing as others with the perspective changes-I have been listening to the audiobook.

This book is taking tooooo long. There is too much stuff that we don’t need to know. I really liked Uprooted but this one is rambling.

I have started this book twice and I can’t get into it. For some reason the magical children are driving me batty and I feel the author is intentionally adding things due to an agenda. I have no issue with whatever the author is planning to include, I feel this is forced. Unless, this is being written in a way for audiences who are learning or simply don’t understand.

Interesting but some of the writing is cliche and plain cheesy. And I feel like the author explains too much.

Ok that part of Hugo was confusing…not what I thought.

Really enjoying this. The characters and plot have been fun. I do t want to find out what is going to happen to Hugo…almost tempted to stop now. Suspense is annoying! Argh!

This book is hokey. It’s like Jane Austen decides to write a racy novel…no, wait, Jane Austen would write it better. The author borrowed prior concepts of her old series. It’s a Jane Austen racy novel written by a 17 year old and then.40 year old editor tried to fix it. Do not do the audio-there are times I simply roll my eyes…

I like this book but it is taking forever. All the skipping back and forth between characters is confusing.
