alastor is amazing; written on receiving a Celandine also great, shits on Wordsworth (again); hymn to intellectual beauty is a masterpiece, however Monte Blanc is not that good imo, couldn't really understand it. To constantia also very good, and Ozymandias is possibly the greatest sonnet ever written. May be overused today, but it is truly a perfect and immortal poem. every line is a masterpiece

endymion book II: endymion meets adonis, who awakes when Venus comes to visit, Venus tells him that her relationship foreshadows his; goes to sleep and sees Diana in sleep and embraces her, wakes up and hears arthuesa and alpheus talking, then gets transported to the ocean. work has a decent amount of problems, but Keats' genius is evident, however one of his lesser/worst works

a summer evening churchyard; the personification of silence and twilight taking over, along with the image of a cathedral; sonnet of Dante- Dante calling his friend guido to sail on a voyage that will take them to satisfaction (through writing); to Wordsworth- Shelley talks shit about Wordsworth and how he is a sellout to his liberal beliefs and the author laments his fall (absolutely brilliant);

Keats begins with love and talking about literary relationships, then attention is on endymion who has traveled long way and sees a special butterfly, who he chases to a fountain and it disappears, but then naiad comes out from fountain and tells him how she feels bad for him and would give him her treasure if she had any, and that he must pursue his love outside of this world

end of queen man (Ianthe spirit goes into carriage and return to body, where Henry is next to her); to Mary Godwin, a difficult poem in that parts dont make sense, professes love for Mary and how she won him over even tho hes married; there are spirits of the air, a beautiful poem shitting on Coleridge for selling out and chasing another women outside marriage, but also describes Shelley himself

Book II canto I archimago escapes prison and meets up with duessa, who he makes into a raped girl and then since hes too weak, beguiles guyon into thinking redcrosse knight did it so he can attack him. they meet n guyon apologizes, his palmer says stuff to his advisee redcrosse, they leave, then hear a shrike in woods from amavia who guyon revives n tells him about Arcadia then dies. they bury her n guyon vows reveng

Queen Mab canto ix. Shelley is an absolute genius, writing skills matched Byron and surpassed Keats, even at early time in career. Harold bloom was write by calling him basically the smartest guy to ever write a poem

end of endymion book i. endymion tells peona that the girl in his dream is actually real and maybe it wasn't a dream, and sets sail in a boat. hard to read, partially because of subject and vocabulary structure, not his best work but flashes of genius def present

finished book I. Spenser is an absolute genius, probably the greatest poet in the English language after Milton, should still be taught in schools today but it is a shame he isn't

book I, canto 11: redcrosse knight is knocked down by the dragons tail, into a well which he rests and is recovered, and ready to fight the next morning. meanwhile, una thinks he died. next morning they fight again, redcrosse knight stabs the dragon, hes in pain, then hits redrcosse with his spiked tail in shoulder, redcrosse cuts his tail off. goes back to well. on third day, redcrosse comes back and kills dragon

endymion's sister peona takes sleepy endymion to bower in midst of water, in sleeptalkish endymion says how peona's lyre will inspire him or whatever then peon thinks he did something to upset the gods, something worse than seeing Diana naked

red crosse knight faces off with dragon; he tries to pierce him with spear but is knocked away with tale; he tries again, then dragon swops up him and his horse, but the weight is too heavy eventually and redcrosse knight able to free himself. then pierces him with a throw thats 3x mans strength and wounds dragon, who then traps red crosse knight horse with tail, forcing him to jump off, but not injured

read first two cantos of queen mab absolutely genius and visionary his development as writer at such early point in his career exceeds where Keats was during that point of his career by far (no disrespect tho)

Redcrosse knight going up to heaven with contemplation and caelia ??? basically training religiously to become the powerful knight he used to be and defeat the dragon (he is St. George the dragonslayer). basically the part of Rocky or marvel movie where he has been defeated by the villain once and now is training after learning his mistakes then will take on villain at full strength

currently on Endymion, great ambition and great writing, though at times it makes no sense grammatically and reading wise

no disrespect to Keats but def a superior writer than him. Harold bloom is write in his praise for him (though I haven't read any Byron) may be the greatest genius since Milton even with political views. that being said, The Retrospect Cwm Elam 1812 went completely over my head, along with most of the first 68 lines (first 2 pages) of Queen Mab

Hero and Leander Sestiads 1 and 2 (Marlowes completed portion) are kinda mid but nevertheless are pretty good. skipped over rest of the poem because not written by Marlowe but will revisit sometime later. started his Ovid elegies translations pretty good but never read Ovid in Latin nor do I know enough latin or have enough time to do so

loves nature somewhat too much but genius is there in early works. too much influence from Leigh hunt but developing into a master of verse

prince Arthur saves the red crosse knight, kills ogoglio and the ten headed beast, duessa flees. then canto ix, Arthur relates his life story (doesn't know who his parents are, raised by squire Timbra and Merlin)
