Rereading 2026.

I’m so glad I picked this up again. I’m already quite fond of Mildred.

There is never enough good writing in the world!

The Myrtle Room is discovered!

Ida’s section adds another layer to the story, revealing the inaccuracies of the previous narratives. I am enjoying this far more than expected. I so hope the final section fulfills my expectations.

Part Two claims to be the biography of Andrew Bevel, the financier upon whom the novel, Bonds, was based. Not as much fun to read, as Bevel “sets the record straight” about himself and his wife, Mildred. The “fun” is, of course, that Bevel is an unreliable narrator, with decided opinions. I look forward to the next sections.

Good reminder of stuff I used to know.

Section One: Bonds was well written and held my attention. It will be interesting to see what the author does next.

An enjoyable collection. I’m looking forward to the final story, Carmilla, which will be a reread for me.
