This is the 3rd in a series of wicked witches of wherever that I am reading. Extremely light, quick reads, divorced entirely from the news of the day- no climate change, healthcare or immigration-that as news junkie, I need! Now I enjoy glib dialogue and curious situations as much as anyone, but I am over this silliness in this series. What seems to be designed as clever, ends up being churlish and childish. Ugh!

Ugh!! I’m trying to get into this book but a quarter of the way in and all I see is a bevy of disagreeable, complaining, unappreciative, overcompensating people and a couple of long suffering understanding partners. Inuendo and hints at the past are barely encouragement sufficient to read much further. Unless something happens to bring any kind of sense, this book may well be abandoned.

Thus far I am not enamored with this book which is surprising because I have enjoyed other works by Karen White. I find the writing style intriguing. Larkin one of the main characters seems completely unsympathetic to me at this point. We’ll see how it plays out…

Predictable.
