Finished this a couple months ago. I guess I just forgot to record it. Good book, as are all Ann Cleeves' books.

Mr. Cole's book on Martin Van Buren is a readable and informative one. I learned a lot about that is man that I was not aware.

Candace Lazzaro is finished with Anne Boleyn: A King's Obsession (Six Tudor Queens, #2)
Done. This is a well written (fictional) book about Henry the Eighth second wife, Anne Boleyn. Alison Weir does a good job of talking Anne's story.

Candace Lazzaro is on page 505 of 602 of Katherine of Aragon: The True Queen (Six Tudor Queens, #1)
Alison Weir writes a good picture of the Katherine of Aragon "The True Queen" of England and the daughter of Isabel and Ferdinand of Spain. Alison Weir does a good job of telling Katherine's story and keeping her human too.

I got "involved" with another book but I'm finished with that one so now I can go back to this one. It's a good book, it's just that I misplaced this book and when I found it again, I was too into the other book. So, now it's back to the storm in a teacup.

Candace Lazzaro is finished with Auschwitz: A Doctor's Eyewitness Account
Wow! This is a well written true account by a Jewish doctor who was "selected by the infamous Nazi war criminal Dr. Josef Menegele to become chief physician of the camp's crematoriums" (from the Jacket flap.) The original book was published in 1960.

Page 153 "The Sonderkommando was awaiting the final blow. Day after day, week after week, month after month, terror had hovered over our heads, suspended by the thinnest of threads. And now, in a day or tow, it would descend bringing with it instantaneous death, leaving in its wake only a pile of silvery ashes. We were ready for it. Hourly we awaited the arrival of our SS executioners."

Candace Lazzaro is finished with Same Kind of Different As Me: Conversation Guide
This heart wrenching and heart warming story is a great read. Even if you aren't Christian (it is a "true" story with a Christian twist) most people are going to love it. Denver is a former share cropper turn street person. Ron and Debbie are multi millionaires who decide to serve at the local "soup kitchen".

I'm so glad to see so many good reviews of this book. I loved Sarah Price's The Matchmaker. I'm slowly working my way through Sense and Sensibility now but ONLY because I'm so busy with "Life." and working on a few other books.

Knowing the end of this book makes it a sad read...but it's nice to know that the Romanovs were a happy and close family ... for the most part.
