“She always knows where they’ll be” The biggest snake of all was a challenge.
He feels good by hearing mockingjays sing capitol anthem. He lost it already. He is disturbed by music too. Pathetic. Recording Sejanus and the handkerchief incident. He did both instinctively, but on different sides of the “fine line”.

“‘Some people just understand birds.’ Coriolanus felt, unequivocally, that he would never be one of those people,…” His hatred towards mockingjays, their “spontaneous creation”. Jabberjays can be controlled by people but mockingjays can’t and it TERRIFIES HIM.

Day 24 of “One Chapter A Day To Keep The Snakes At Bay”, 6 to go
“Maybe he was not cut out to be a lover.” KEEP TELLING YOURSELF THAT YOU COWARD DOUBTING HIS FEELINGS THE SECOND THNGS GET HARD
Lucy Gray mentions how she couldn’t understand why the snakes loved her. They didn’t love, they clung because she was the only source of hope, love and warmth they recognized. Especially for that big blonde snake.

Day 23 of “One Chapter A Day To Keep The Snakes At Bay”, 7 to go
“This is… this is maybe the best night of my life.” THE SOFTNESS PIERCED ME IN THIS CHAPTER I AM NOT FINE and we see the mockingjays, coryo’s immediate hatred towards them. Things will go downhill from this point put the seatbelts on everybody

Day 22 of “One Chapter A Day To Keep The Snakes At Bay”, 8 to go
We see the place where they strung up a man, they said he murdered three.
Coryo’s almost humanization this chapter is hurting me. Sejanus, Lucy Gray. He feels hope and love, but he never holds on to them.

Day 21 of “One Chapter A Day To Keep The Snakes At Bay”, 9 to go
He is so desperate I had to relish. Thinking of Lucy Gray tortured in the hands of the monster woman, his family disgraced. Then Tigris’ letter reminding him of the power of hope, and then him never forgetting it and making sure his enemies never feel it. The happiness when he sees Sejanus, I can’t anymore.

Lucy Gray having a way with snakes, also getting close to the biggest snake of all, but then the snake going insane ANYWAYS THEY SHIPPED HIM OF GOODBYE PATHETIC PEACEKEEPER

Day 19 of “One Chapter A Day To Keep The Snakes At Bay”, 11 to go
He’s dancing on top of a lot of lines, not only the rebellious one. “The needle of his moral compass had swung madly without direction.” AS IF.
I’ve always thought the social theme of this book and the whole dystopia was the main thing, and this chapter is one of the best representations of it.

“A revenge story turned in on itself. A war saga that took no prisoners.”

Coryo feels “the fury at the injustice of it all, the mockery it made of his existence” as he tries to get out of the arena. Funny, really. I tried hard to not leave the chapter half-read when that monster of a woman started her lecture on control, natural state and social contract. I wish all her kind would vanish from the face of the earth.

When the cameras and mics are not around (or at least when he thinks they aren’t) coryo almost makes me believe him. Sejanus is making me sad.
“Powerless to object.”

Day 14 of “One Chapter A Day To Keep The Snakes At Bay”, 16 to go
The beginning of this chapter is all there is to tell, really. I’m pretty sure Lamina wanted to help Marcus by doing what she did.
As Sejanus said, “Monsters!”.

Day 13 of “One Chapter A Day To Keep The Snakes At Bay”, 17 to go
“So this was what people were talking about!” YES YOU LUNATIC YOU SHOULD’VE HELD ON TO IT
He doesn’t. Anyways. The games started. The equality idea sprinkled around this chapter is as delicious as it is sumehow subtle yet obvious. And Lucy Gray being coryo’s tribute… that’s all.

I like it when he suffers and tries to figure out what he is feeling, for those are the only times he comes close to cross the line for good but NO. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. NO.
We are officially off to the arena.

“glaringly inappropriate and surprisingly welcome” is the chosen summary for this chapter.
The inability to let go of violence theme was haunting, sprinkled around.
