This book started out a bit slow but then picked up and really pulled me in. I love stories about Japan generally; the people, language and culture are precious to me, and fascinate me. This story is about a translator and a Japanese book she wants to translate into English. Such an interesting story

This book is full of gorgeous tales, creative, dreamy, magical. The story I just finished, Red Dirt Witch, gave me shivers of hope.

I got 50% of the way into this story and still didn't care about any of the characters or where the story was headed. Instead I picked up Commonwealth by Ann Patchett. In two pages I was invested in both characters and story. She sure can write.

I'm enjoying the story so far. I guess I was hoping it would be a slightly deeper read.

Truly amazing, I'm loving this beautifully written story.

Almost finished

"Petrichor". I learned the word for that smell when it rains after it has not rained for a while. It was coined in 1964 by two Australian scientists. It involves the release of plant oils that are in the earth. They isolated some of the components. I love that smell and learning a new word.

This is a gorgeous love story

I'm so excited to be reading another Peter Heller story. I so loved Celine and The Dog Stars. So far I'm enjoying this one also.

I'm reading the audio book and enjoying it very much right now.
