so back and forth on whether this is good or bad. why has every girl in this book died. (except the final girl) and AFTER... the first and only guy (so far) died. Seems like such an oversight for a book that's about horror ANALYSIS. ...also. why are we suddenly adopting new formatting... 179 pages into the book? I really thought this was a (Very) advanced copy. waiting to the end to. decide. horror can surprise u

Interesting to have the inciting incident of the story occur at the 50% mark ... I AM enjoying this in some ways, not enjoying in others, AND it is very.... it very much so does not conform to narrative checkpoints.

In Chapter 2, liking it so far but a little afraid of how much it seems that the novel will rest on personhood and personal experience... enjoying it nonetheless... Chapter 1 is all about the innate connection btwn queer people and nature particularly children and nature, especially in the ways of being unidentifiable... but now chapter 2 is about the call to education beCUZ nobody knows about queer nature science...

Anyway I'm enjoying So Thirsty. Kind of like a Scavenger Hunt for vampire clues. Plotwise lacking but still plenty of time to catch up. Lately I've been thinking about the Brandon Taylor 'try to bore me' essay and. I am very far from bored. lots of potential to go, I think!

Just reached the halfway point... Reading as an ebook. I do think this probably lends itself better to 1-2 reading sessions, which is unfortunately not how I'm able to read this one. I only finally realized what's actually going on with the play, like. when they arrived at rehearsal and started talking about the play. IDK. It's not that the pacing is off. The dispersal of information isn't aligned with me.

ok i’m usually SUCH a sequel guy… and several people told me i would prefer book 2 over book 1 but. to be honest… i’m missing book 1. the characters are SO much . more charismatic and fully rounded out in THIS book. but i miss the setting of sinegaard and the war academy. i just felt better grounded in that more stable setting as opposed to. drifting at sea. still enjoying tho :)
