I wasn't expecting this to be as funny as it is. CS Lewis is such a treasure.

I just get SO EXCITED when I get to read a Nancy Pearcey book. This one came in at the library and I got it that day. Love her work and writing so much.

Beth is sick. And Meg thinks how rich they were before her sickness, things “more precious than any luxuries can buy: in love, protection, peace, and health.” It’s easy to forget how blessed we are most of the time.

I completely forgot about the chapter where the girls want to do no work at all and Marmee gives Hannah the day off and everything goes to pot. A perfect reminder when our own day started late because school is delayed two hours and I’m acting as if we’re on vacation. “Don’t you feel that it is pleasanter to help one another, to have daily duties which make leisure suite when it comes…”? Perfect.

Little Women lesson of the day: Meg - “it does seem as if the more one gets, the more one wants, doesn’t it?” Word, Meg. Word.

Marmee’s talk with Jo after she’s so angry about Amy burning her book and Amy falls under in the ice is one of the best parenting talks about self-control and not letting your anger rule you that I’ve ever read.

I sincerely—SINCERELY—forgot how much I loved this book. Haven’t read it in years, and it’s just such a wonderful story in so many ways.
