I have been savoring this. I waited so long for it to come out that I did not want to just blow through it. I find myself pausing and going back to just admire some of the things that she writes. I feel like she’s gone next level on this book. I’m really, really enjoying it.

By the end of Chapter 6 I have a solid urge to find out what happened but am finding it slowly as I savor this book!

This was released on 3/31/2026 and I had to get it immediately. I waited many months for this release! I love stepping back into the Irish village of Ardnakelty with the same characters. I’d be remiss if I didn’t secretly cheer that in this book there may be a murder, which was missing from the first 2 books in the series. It is a slow burn so far and I am savoring it!

This book had such a fun, strong opening. Now that I’m a third of the way in, I’m invested in the two main characters and enjoying their adventures.

I pretty much abandoned this book but Goodreads will not let me remove it from my “currently reading“ list without calling it “read.” I have 28 books marked “currently reading” and it feels like Goodreads is shaming me. Yes, I sometimes start books but don’t finish them! I don’t finish every book I start. So sue me. Lol.

Rereading this book after about 15 years or so with my team. It’s an important book and these are values that are great to revisit. Over the years, the seven habits tend to get watered down so it’s good to reinforce them.

This book continues to be relevant. Some of the listening skills he goes over are what I employ at some other times, but can likely also employ in other areas: First, listen. Then ask questions to understand why the person feels that way, then restate in your own words to show you understand. Interesting how very polarized people were brought together and had civilized, respectful discussions using this method.

So far I’m finding this book incredibly relevant, as it discusses negotiations and practical, decision-making conversations focusing on What’s This Really About? I use these skills daily in client consultations, litigation, mediations, and more. Duhigg analyzes these conversations and how one can become a better communicator, listener, etc. Would be a good book club pick to discuss each section after reading.

This is a good book but it has taken me a while to get through it; not as engrossing as I would hope. But still good with helpful lessons. One more chapter to go!

Cynthia Conlin is on page 45 of 353 of Cracking The Menopause: While Keeping Yourself Together
I wish I had found this book 5-10 years ago. So far the first chapter discusses the terrible history of the way menopause has been treated over the years, and chapter 2 brings us into the present day, which still is filled with misinformation and stigma. Very eye-opening and relatable.

Notes from Chapter 1 - Motivation:
- We crave control and feel it through making decisions.
- Choices, even small ones, trigger motivation by reinforcing control.
- Internal locus of control: Blame self for outcomes; linked to success and longevity.
- External locus: Blame external factors.
- Locus of control can be learned.
- Self-motivation comes from viewing choices as affirmations of our values and goals.
