This book brings me straight back home. I am native of Winston-Salem, NC. The author really captures the roots of culture from a place where things and the way of life isn't understood, embraced, and cherished unless you are actually from there. The element I particularly appreciate about this work is the author's ability to adequately link the cultural impact of our ancestral roots from Africa. Pun- sooo colorful!!

Even though it's labeled a fairytale, it's so close to reality. The only time the story seems like a fairytale is on the last sentence. It's a quick read, but detailed enough to carry you through the progress of events. It was a good book.I rate it a four and a half.
