This book has some fun ideas, but the way Ceony talks about Lira (among other things) makes me assume Charlie Holmberg* is a man. C is currently noticing (with chagrin!) that L has bigger boobies than her. Okay, sure

*I generally don't know much about authors who aren't actually people I know in real life, but Charlie is usually a male name. I may be wrong, of course.

Really enjoying this so far, wonderful creepy worldbuilding, and excellent portrayal of sisterly relationships. Just one thing is niggling me - which is that the mystery of Heron has never been a mystery and has just made me wonder if the MC is a little on the slow side.

This started off feeling quite simplistic and ham-fisted - be nice to people who are different! But has become more nuanced and complex further in. Definitely a good book for tweens and early teens to read.
