Painfully accurate about Gen X and our upbringing, traumas & the effects, so far. I’m definitely feeling called out.

Okay, we’ve hit the point where she is in England, the author waited quite a bit and has used her real name quite a bit while discussing that she was more than likely in charge of details of her portrait (the one by Simon Van de Passe in 1616).
The book is excellent and informational, but as I said- on the dry side.

It’s taking me a while to get through this one because it is a bone dry historical text. It was recommended on an indigenous thread on accurate portrayals of Pocahontas- so far, it’s super in depth on colonizers and the Powhatan with some details and quotes/stories about Pocahontas. The biggest surprise so far is they’ve never mentioned her real name, so many other finite details- I’d have expected it.

You better love science, lol. It’s very dry, cannot read this at bedtime- I can only get a few pages in before my eyes get too heavy to stay open.

Pretty good read on racism so far. A lot of religion, but it’s to be expected, as the author is a man of the cloth. Really dense on info and stats, so I am taking it slowly and reading other books alongside it.

I normally eschew any diet-pushing books (veganism ISN’T a diet, but a life-style/ethical choice, being “plant-based” is entirely diet-based) but I was intrigued by the weird eating patterns that Kevin Smith mentioned about this book, and Penn Jillette- even though I disagree with much of his beliefs, is one hell of a funny guy. So far, this is REALLY more of a biography than a diet book.

Been recovering from pneumonia so I haven’t been reading (concentration is nil), but binge watched all 8 seasons of Gilmore Girls and decided I would take the Rory Gilmore Reading Challenge....I’m not going to race through it, as it is 339+ books (the reunion season in 2016 added a few to the list) and I have other books I want to read as well. So it’ll be mixed in with my other reviews/read books.

Loved this book. The story is complex and very well done. An eye-opening peek into Indian culture.
