Volume 1 down. Obviously intimidated by the length going in (still am) but damn is this ever a wonderful novel so far. All about the nature of memory. Proust reawakens old memories and gives definition to thought processes you recognize but hadn't put to words. Memory is our reality - a dream that nurtures and frustrates our present. We imagine our futures through the same language with which we recall our memories.

Finished Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door last night (maybe the greatest story ever told?) so video game related romance book might be just what the doctor ordered. (hoping for a little exploration of video game storytelling in here - for a medium that I often find just wastes your time and does a terrible job of telling good stories, stuff like paper mario shows how engrossing it can be when done well)

loving how hilarious the dialogue is, and the postmodern historical fiction vibes: “more history’s made by secret handshakes than by battles, bills, and proclamations.”
