As a lover of the Ruth Galloway series, I thought I would give this Ellie Griffiths title a chance. Not a bad mystery, but also not a great one.

Unbelievable read. I have very few books that have changed how I look at the world. I love the view of the world and every stage of both American and African history as told through these remarkable individuals. Not all are sugar coated. The threads that extended through the generations are beautiful. I didn't see the last chapter coming and had years in my eyes reading it. Loved, loved, loved this book.

A sweet story of a women scarred, both physically and psychologically, due to a childhood illness that had shut her off from people outside her community for her whole life. I found the pages telling of her illness and young life a little disconnected from the lovely story of her relationship with the store manager and teenage customer. Overall enjoyed the story of the relationship.
