There's so much romantic pining in this book. Some of it makes me irritated, especially when the men are slighted because the girl said no. But it also addresses it. Like, one woman gets a whole speech segment where she declares that she's under no obligation to love anybody and she just goes away to tend her sheep and avoid people. You go, girl!

Why did nobody tell me this book was so funny?

Unpopular opinion: This book is very annoying.

Easy-to-read writing style, and the prologue features the main character? What!

Conrad: Why is everybody making friends? Can't they see how traumatized I am? I knew people were horrible since I was 10.

But in all seriousness, his current life situations are probably not going to fix that...

Conrad: Life is terrible and everything hurts.
Me: Boy, stop picking fights!

"Firstborn": An interesting take with an interesting twist but probably my least favorite so far. The ending felt a little cheap, and it is clear this is one of Sanderson's earlier works.
"Mitosis": Once again, I am met with terrible metaphors, but I like the idealistic determination common in YA.

"Perfect State": What a different twist on an interesting concept. I liked the main character the best.
"Probability Approaching Zero": Welp. Interesting concept but not my favorite of the stories. I was able to pick up on the gist without the post script, though.
"Defending Elysium": Again, a different take on a familiar trope.

"Brain Dump": Weird and a bit confusing.
"I Hate Dragons": An interesting, humorous story.
"Dreamer": Everyone is a horrible person. :/

"Snapshot": Asdfghjkl! What in the world, Brandon?! Why would you do that? Make me get attached to characters in 60 pages then pull the rug out from under me like that. Detective fiction that feels like Inception. I kept thinking I could figure out the twist. I did and I didn't. I want to go back and read it again.

I am so close to being done! Why is this book sooo long?

Everybody is communicating with each other and having healthy conversations about how to deal with the bad guy? What? Oh, wait. Now there's secrets again. Nevermind.

I did not expect to enjoy this book as much as I am. I may be on a gothic horror kick...

In a world where everybody is a liar, three friends must try not to die as they sort through the lies and manipulation to stop a dark lord that may or may not exist.

Oh, you're not a spy. Cool. How would you like to become one?

The way this book was pitched: heist!
The content: think about the consequences of your actions.

"You're a grown man hiding from your mother in the bushes." Lol. I'm enjoying this writing style!

I wish I enjoyed this as much as I did book one, but I don't. :(

Far more anti-Christian than I was expecting but has an interesting writing style. Definitely a slow build.
