Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind

First 2 chapters were astonishingly well-written. This book has great readability, as I believe the audience is the empirical layperson. Handful of truth bombs force the reader to put their science caps on.

I'm glad I got the hardcover. I can only imagine this would sit nicely nearby a hardcover copy of Your Inner Fish by Shubin. These books seem like they'd be very informative if read back-to-back.

First 2 chapters were astonishingly written. This book has great readability, as I believe the audience is the non-empirical layman. Handful of truth palms force the reader to put their science caps on.

I'm glad I got the hardcover.

Similar to RF by Wang, I am biting off a bit more than I can chew at this point. I only hope these books age well and that I can begin to mine them for data in the future. For now, they make good shelf trophies.

Thousand Brains theory seems to trump Neurotopology in the eloquence department.

Multidimensional predictive models running on micro columnar wetware modules vs. 11-dimensional wet ‘sandcastles’ comprised of feature detection network cliques.

They actually sound very similar.

Difficult to follow the NAL-1 logic architecture without a background in discrete math or term logic. May need to come back later.

At this point I need to purchase the Term Logic text required under Wang's suggested readings. Luckily, I am just scanning this text for the first (of several) times to get a gist for what kind of math is involved. So far, a lot of predicate and term logic.

Really excited for this one. Good blend of neuroscience and AI. Also just a good theory of how the brain works which I felt was unironically left out of my education in undergraduate neuroscience.
