I have a hot take on this

I have a huge hot take regarding the poem "One Art" by Elizabeth Bishop. The author is actually in disbelief. The fact that she has to constantly repeat the fact that it is easy to accept defeat and that she has to consistently try to convince herself alludes to the fact that she does not even believe what she is saying. There's a clear tone of irony in the fact that it is actually not easy to accept loses.

Ozymandias is a poem about the fleeting and transient nature of power and the inevitability of decay, a "sands of time" story where the tyrant or that king is forgotten. But technically, his name and his arrogance lived on, so in a sense, he won at the end of the day.

I like the poem in the sense that there is a paradox. The calamity is ironically leading to his salvation as Jesus Christ comes back to judge the world. He becomes saved in the midst of the chaos, which juxtaposes the foreboding tone of the poem with his hopeful mood.

I believe this poem is very interesting in the sense that it shows how we should confront our sins, and should not remain "alseep" amidst our wrongdoings. It reminds us of our need to repent and it is foreboding in a hopeful way in the sense that the calamity will ironically save him through Jesus Christ.

I believe this poem is akin to Dante's Inferno in the sense that it is reminding us about the dangers of remaining "asleep" and not confronting our sins. The poem depicts the disorderly nature of the "Second Coming" through various metaphors. Ultimately, the poem is very foreboding in a hopeful manner, assured that such calamity means our Savior is coming
