I enjoyed reading part 1!! The characters are well described and I’m invested in the storylines thus far. I do find this book wordy but that should be assumed given the time this book was written and that it is a translation. I’m interested to see where it goes!! I do not have any complaints so far — It’s a good commentary on how society, family, and relationships were back then

330 - ok we are heating up a bit… I’m very interested by this supposed lake and how the former elantrian dissolved in it. Maybe it has something to do with the disappearance of dor. Elantrian sacrifice lol??

275 - Sarene is written to be so ‘smart’ but she comes across as an cocky individual who is constantly around 0 iq individuals. The whole reveal that she was playing dumb is so cringe. If you took Sarene out of this book it’d improve so much more. It seems like she had to do little to no work to somehow be a leafer. I also feel like she just does whatever she wants without any consequences

219 - raoden has too much plot armor…. How did he get all these people to agree with him. As I said, there is little to no struggle. Also the whole thing with distracting yourself from hunger does not seem legitimate to me #sorry

264 - the dor… finally have an endgame topic? Interested to see if they can bring back aondor

Page 183 - I feel line there’s not a big conflict yet… every thing seems smooth sailing and when I’m reading I just assume it’s going to work out for the characters. It’s almost as if things are too ‘convenient’ like raoden’s palace break in.

196 - sorry but I don’t like Sarene…. This whole play dumb thing is starting to piss me off and don’t even get me started on iadon. Just give me hrathen

Page 75 - no funeral scene for raoeden?

Page 117 - why were kiin’s children so adamant about Elantrians

Page 132 - was galladon an Elantrian before the Reod?

Page 170 - why was karata so quick to trust raoden that he could get her to the palace?

This has been decent so far. This beginning of the book was great and I loved learning about the mystery of the reod and being introduced to the three ‘main’ characters.

I’ve become quite annoyed with Sarene however and I find the plot is not advancing as quick as I would have liked and i feel there is not a real conflict yet. It just feels like everyone is doing side quests lol. I have faith in Raoden

Loved the intro! The shoad sounds very interesting and I can’t wait to find the answers for how it went wrong!!

Raoden seems like he’ll be an interesting character, especially how much he was hyped up in sarene’s intro lol.

I’m also interested to see how Raoden and Gallodens relationship developed.

Very good! The writing style is interesting and I also enjoy witnessing the misconstrued ideology of Margaret White and how it rules her life and therefore impacts Carrie.

You want to root for Carrie but there is a hesitancy of “what if something bad happens.”

The first part was a long line of dominos falling on top of each other leading to a bloody, well built climax!
