Not my usual choice of genre, but I'm really enjoying this, especially as it's set in Tiverton and I recognise all the places!

Listening to this as an audiobook (read by the author) and finding this very emotive so far. My grandmother gave her body to be used in university anatomy teaching and the lovely way this is described and dealt with in the book has me welling up every time.

Already frustrated with the lack of copy editing and a few anachronisms, but the story is fun so will keep going. Simple spelling mistakes do irritate, e.g. past instead of passed, balled instead of bawled....autocorrect??

Perhaps I've been spoilt by the beautiful prose of Donna Tartt (I read The Goldfinch just before this), but I'm afraid this is very ordinary in comparison with no particularly interesting characters. It all feels a bit flat - I think I know where it's going, so I'm just hoping the author will surprise me instead.
