Again not sure what i expected and some parts are like the quotes made me think and stuff but man...Most of it is kinda horrible? Not from the writing but just the lifestory...and idk

Damn..Ferns life has already been...so much...and i'm not even halfway through :')
(Also wish it was possible to change which version one is reading, bc the pagecount doesn't match up again)

Aight, since the "plot" is going nowhere and it's driving me mad to waste more time on it i'll be dropping the last 200 pages. Byeee

Things are starting to get somewhat more connected and there is interesting stuff partly, but it's also all very.... schoolish and slow :')

Still holding out hope it'll all come together at one point but dang could it have been done better :')

It's tough to care/get invested in smth that just suddenly gets told like....

We have the main character and what she's doing - then some chapters that tell stuff from her childhood but then there's suddenly seemingly unrelated chapters that tell lifestories of either losely connected stuff or now "random" ??

A bunch of passages that feel more like fillmaterial instead of story somehow, but i think parts of it will get importance eventually; some plot is Happening but so far all feels superficial - as if there's definitely more/different stuff happening that we just haven't been clearly told yet

Might have to start not reading every word with this one, because pages upon pages teaching how to encode and decode text might be interesting in theory but honestly, i just want to progress here instead :'D

Mmmmh...100 pages in and it feels like we've only scratched the parts that will become story yet, but i think things will get moving quicker soon (or at least i hope so bc two things happen that might cause it)

Off with a slow start (mostly bc i wasn't much in a reading mood though, so not necessarily the books fault)

Despite the main plot points being set/started, it kind of feels like knowing nothing about what's actually gonna happen and it's exciting ngl

Technically was reading another one first (and have two already in waiting position) but this one has been calling to me something fierce this month so i'm giving in - let's see what's up with that owo

I'm sure it's outstanding and whatever praise it got deserved, but i guess it's just not for me and i can't be bothered to trudge through when there's other books to check out

Furthermore, i don't want to give up on it just yet, but since it's quite tedious i might read something else alongside, so it doesn't fully kill my drive to read :')

Okay so apparently the general "he" was used on purpose bc they don't have a "human pronoun" for when they're nongendered, but it still botheres me (at least the translater admits it's a non-ideal choice)

So far feeling quite indifferent about things :x
The part with the foretellers was interesting, and i like that Estraven has a pov now too, but lots of stuff is confusing/boring

I'm gonna assume it's bc it's from the view of narrowminded humans, but the fact that a huge part is that all gethians are genderless when outside of a certain timeframe makes it weird to then keep reading small stories/recountings of them were multiple individuals keep being referred to as 'man' and he/him pronouns as default...

Hoping that will change either with "newer" stories or at least with our main...

Ngl i would've loved some things differently for the showdown, but nontheless love everyone and it was a hell of a captivating read!
Will definitely eventually reread both books to mark favorite lines
