Okay so I started reading this because I read a queer analysis of this and was intrigued… as Theo and Boris’ friendship became established in chapter five, I started to think that I didn’t entirely see the latent queer tendencies here, like it could easily pass for a bromance. But now, my god. How can you even see with all that jealousy clouding your vision (I get it now.)

They’re almost 3/4 of the way through and have a brilliant plan, so obviously, that plans about to go to hell.

God I hate when the solution to beating the big bad is as simple as just killing them and YET the protagonists have morals and refuse it
Like my god, you have all the magic in the world, and you’re just gonna sit in a dungeon rotting away because of “true love”???

I still hate that this is in present tense but it’s less noticeable when listening on audio so we’re making it

This took some turns I wasn’t expecting. Tbh it was probably a 5 star book until this specific twist but if all goes well going forward (metaphorically of course, everything is about to go to hell), I may be able to look past it.
If the overarching theme goes the way I think it’s going, it will likely make me cry and could be incredibly impactful.
