Struggling to finish this one

So far reads like a channel 10 miniseries for the dull middle-aged. Gonna count how many times a character bites their lip or tucks a strand of hair behind their ears. Current count: 3, 2

Loving this! So refreshing

Enjoying it, but there are some laugh-out-loud bad bits so far: 'An American woman in her forties, with a Sontag-gray streak in her dark hair, greets you. "How can I help you?" she says. You find her formidable, and probably attribute more intelligence to her because of her Sontag streak, her streak of Susan Sontag.' Most likely the crime of a bad editor; let's give her the benefit of the doubt.

Not convinced so far!

I can't understand how this was published. So far it is a self-indulgent white boy diary entry, overwrought with flowery descriptions about what's going on outside of windows near where the author is writing his diary entry. Seriously considering returning it to the bookshop, but I will give it a fair crack. Scribe, handsomeness doesn't warrant publication.
