Omg, ¿cómo no lo he empezado antes? Estoy alucinando con el estilo de Alana Portero, y su talentazo para narrar. Es una maestra de la palabra. Y solo llevo 30 págs!!!!

Really really really enjoying it so far. I love how the narrative advances fast, guided through its 4 main characters stories that get to speak to us every year that passes.

This is too well-written!! It reads as a mystery. I was completely shocked by how Brendan Hughes escapes prison…
I have no words to react to the level of violence and atrocities committed during the Troubles. I admit I wasn’t aware of it until now. I am learning A LOT

Already learning so much about the Troubles by Keefe’s narration and introduction of different characters.

I can already tell this is going to be one of my favs of the year so far!

Her writing style is detailed but at the same time straight to the point. Chapters are short.

The story is totally captivating. And islands were things are disappeared. That’s right, I’m not conjugating the verb wrong. The Memory Police is making sure specific things vanish from the islanders’ memories, such as ribbons or even birds.

Non-fiction for a change. Immigration and the definition of home have always interested me. And understating this concepts through others literature… what can be better? This is a collection of stories, an anthology put together by Catapult magazine which I am very happy to have discovered!!!

Im enjoying this so much!!! Es un juego de fill in the gaps, donde cada capítulo lo narra un personaje diferente (humano o no humano). A medida que avanza el libro, las diferentes desgracias que sufre una familia en concreto se van entrelazando con nuevos y viejos personajes. Mia, Neus, Oriol, Cristina… también nos habla el perro o las propias montañas. Un viaje total.

Nunca había leído nada igual. Al principio me costaba seguirlo pero creo que poco a poco le voy pillando el tranquillo. Es increíble ponerse en la piel de un “bolet” del bosque en Camprodón o un relámpago… narran en primera persona un capítulo del libro. Lleno de onomatopeias, es súper musical.

Me está gustando muchísimo. Kallifatides entremezcla en esta novela sus experiencias de la ocupación nazi del pueblo griego en el que nació y se crio, con apuntes sobre su visión de la cultura griega, la vida, la inmigración…
