Florence
Florence is on page 31 of 179 of Mouth to Mouth
giving me 'the talented mr ripley' vibes
not liking the narration style so far – the main story is being told by someone who isn't our protagonist so feels a bit indirect / distant, but keen to see where it goes...

Wowwow the author doesn't waste a single page. Though I liked it better at first, now the story is getting darker and more annoying to read

Florence
Florence is on page 78 of 272 of Out of Office: The Big Problem and Bigger Promise of Working From Home
timely and interesting, well-researched and dense. it's more than about 'working from home' as the subtitle may have suggested otherwise (opportunistic perhaps). if you're a white-collar 'knowledge worker' working in an office, you will resonate with this book

Florence is on page 169 of 321 of Lost Connections: Why You’re Depressed and How to Find Hope
more than halfway through! while i love the messages of this book, "what you know about depression is all wrong" is a very bold claim to make. honestly, i'm not sure if i agree – surely a lot of modern readers know that depression and anxiety are more than simply chemical imbalance? the way it is posited leaves a sour taste in my mouth. feels too desperate at grabbing attention?

Florence is on page 204 of 481 of Humankind: A Hopeful History – from the presenter of the 2025 BBC ‘Moral Revolution’ Reith lectures
flying through this! it reads very much like a mystery documentary where they present some evil cases and slowly unveil the truth to you of why people behave that way. sensationalism is always the culprit.
