I feel like this was the wrong book for me to pick up, because oh so much of this is hard parenting.

While mildly interesting, Shoalts has yet to present a case as to why we should care about this particular explorer. I also find narrative style of the first person chapters borderline unreadable.

I haven't read a fantasy frontlist title that was this enjoyable since the Raven Scholar. Love an actually crass "Butcher" of a female MC and a delightful, tacky fop of a male MC.

Why can't I ever start something already on my tbr

It's a DNF for me. The writing, the characters and the world were somehow all so bland. Disappointed because I thought i would love this.

I keep trying to make any kind of progress with this, but the info dump at the start is really bumming me out.
