Im having an Annabel Monaghan summer and I’m proud✊ but this book sucks

Every other sentence in this book is a corny metaphor or simile. It really feels like the author is trying too hard to write ~prose that people want to highlight but it comes across as SO unnatural. Also makes the protagonist insufferable. Both the book and the main character take themselves way too seriously

I’m currently on a hiatus from The Bee Sting because I felt so exhausted with sadness after every chapter so don’t mind my next couple of reads …..

I forgot how much I love lily king’s writing 😭😭 talk about yearning ugh the way she writes about love literally breaks my heart it’s so perfect
