Currently in chapter 9. My favorite thing about this adaptation is getting to see the male-coded places that Jane Austin could never show us. However, I feel like Oliver‘s main personality trait as a character is “being a boy“, so it’s losing a little something for me. Also, I may need to go back and reread P&P, but I feel like the author may have inserted some more modern-feeling drama and language.

Checked out the ebook on Libby back in July 2024 and made it to the middle of chapter 4. Got my own copy for Christmas so now now I’m actually going to finish it! It’s a much prettier book in person!

Really loved this. Being short among tall people as a metaphor for the first-generation immigrant experience is really interesting. And I loved Van’s and Linny’s characters and how they came together as sisters.

Left off at part 3 (had to check it back in at the library).

Just finished chapter 2.

Read up to chapter 18 (although I’m on day 21 of my challenge - I’m a few days behind). It’s repetitive and the editing could be better, and it needs a hell of a lot more footnotes, but it gets the job done. Hope to finish the book if I can get it from the library again.

Picked this up on the recommendation of a fiction writer friend, but the first story was super-dark. Not sure if I’ll continue.

probably two-thirds of the way through when my ebook checkout expired mid-chapter. Frustrating! Will definitely finish this as soon as I can get it again.

I started reading last night and made it partway through the Prologue before turning out the light. Then I woke up at 4 AM with the realization of who the Samma N'Sei are. Damn. But how could Jordan let that thread go? Of course the Dark One is making use of the weapon that literally goes walking up to his front door! Heartbreaking!

Read the first three stories and skimmed bits of "Especially Heinous". Not sure when I'll get back to this.

Finally got to the part where he gets past telling us how great it is and gets around to telling us how to do it!

I'm about a third of the way done and OMG it's so good!!

Just finished chapter 3. Slow going because its dense, but really worthwhile.

Still depressing and stressful!

Reading the first chapter was so anxiety-inducing. Brigid's life sounds just like mine only worse (and I've been stressed, frazzled, and at the breaking point for months). It means, though, that I'm totally rooting for her and hoping she'll find the answer for both of us.
