Seems like readers are introduced to a neverending line of new characters.
Why do I have a feeling I would not enjoy First Law as much as the others?

Part 1 is pretty much very very entertaining, while part 2 kinda falls off a little bit, as it dives deep into the memory and psyche of Dianora.

The prose is hard to read though.

Ủa mọi thứ đang rất ổn, xong tự nhiên tuyến tình cảm Melanie- bác sĩ Ronbinson xuất hiện ngang xương và vô duyên hết sức????

Cuối năm mà tổng kết chắc tháng 10 dễ có khi là tháng đọc được ít sách nhất.
1 là bị bắt đeo tai nghe khi đang chạy xe > hết dám nghe sách nói. Với cơ bản là nghe cũng gần hết cá Voiz rồi
2 là pokemon mới ra mắt, xong nhảy đi chơi game luôn :)))) tuần sau phải chấn chỉnh lại thôiiii

I’m having such high hopes for this book. From what I’ve read so far, this can be a solid 5 star.
And I laughed so hard knowing the book will never be published in Vietnam :)))

I went into this with such excitement and expectation.

Finished:
1. The Beast in the Cave
2. The Alchemist

So far, they are not bad, but not scary or mind blowing either.

19. One for the Road: this would have been a good prologue for Salem’s Lot. Now I’m dying to read it.

17. The Last Rung on the Ladder: a rare normal story in an extremely paranormal collection.
Had this been written by, say, Sally Rooney, it would have become an instant hit.
The end is the definition of Sadness Overcome

16. Children of the Corn: a tale similar to The Hills Have Eyes. Two people are stuck in an empty town surrounded by acres and acres of corn. Till they heard the children.
The religious bit is too much for me, personally tho.

11. The Ledge. The title got me confused, then the story itself is beyond brilliance. A man is forced to walk the ledge of the building after getting caught with another’s wife.
The best in this collection.

Reaching the end already, but the chapters are still super duper long

11. Strawberry Spring: a serial killer is on the loose on Campus.
Tbh, the ending was rather obvious from the get-go, yet this was still an interesting read.

10. Sometimes They Come Back: Jim Morris is an English teacher. His 7th period deals with stupid students. Some new students get transferred to his class, but they’re no strangers.
The whole reading experience feels like reading It all over again, you know, the many haunted years, the bravery it takes to fight back. Only not as well written. The ending is rather confusing. Not King’s best.

9. Trucks: people are trapped inside a diner, surrounded by trucks threatening to run them down. They are forced to pump gas into those trucks forever. Be truck slaves
The idea is both absurd and marvellous at the same time. The writing is brilliant, showcasing the dire situation they’re all in.
I start to wonder why the endjng of all these stories are gloomy as hell.

8. Battleground: a woman revenges her son’s death by sending a box full of tiny soldier figures to the assassin’s house. They fought.
Not scary whatsoever.

7. Grey matter: the idea of an infected beer can turns a man into a blob of grey matter is actually interesting. And up until the point where they got into the house is done quite well. Yet, the ending fails horribly.

6. The boôgeyman: wow wow wow. Perfection. Capturing all the horror elements deftly. Eerie from start to finish.

4. I am the doorway: an austronaut getting infected with an outer earth parasite. It opens eyes on his body.
Not a fan of aliens. 2/5

5. The mangler: a possessed ironing machine that likes killing people.
Story structure is superb. The bit about belladonna got me so excited. Never knew i would fancy reading about inanimate objects come to life. 3.5/5

2. Graveyard shift: mutated rats spawning in the sub-basement. The eerie atmosphere is perfect. Yet 1922 by the same author did this way better. 2.5/5

3. Night surf: a6 the flu had wiped out the human race.
It took me quite a while to get the hang of the story, and a little while more to fully understand the situation. Characters not fleshed out enough. 2/5

Ciri just spent the last two books running away from Vilgefortz, just to end up in his castle willingly?????
What the hell is that?

I am flabbergasted. This book is getting closer, chapter by chapter, to a one star :/

I am so fucking bored with this series. The writing style is so so frustrating!!!

Think I should do a quick review of each of the stories.

1. Jerusalem’s lot: fascinating. Not the most creepy but yeah, I can see the King material in it. And the ending is awesome
