Laurie is on page 74 of 192 of The Sexual Enlightenment of Children
I'm about a third of the way through and gotta say it's torturous. Freud gets a blanket bad rap from so many people, including most of my grad school profs, that I wanted to read more than quotes and interpretations in textbooks. Someone offered to lend me this book and I jumped at the chance. So far he is falling well below my expectations. His conclusions about female sexuality and homosexuality . . .

Laurie is on page 294 of 684 of Of Human Bondage
There are only 565 pages in the version I'm reading. It's very old with no jacket, cover photo, or introduction by another author.

This book is so rich I am taking it slow, rereading lines, saying words out loud. At the rate I'm going I'll still be reading it in January, just the thought of which makes me smile.

Laurie is starting The Goldfinch
I was given a signed copy of this book for Christmas a couple of years ago, and I decided to shelve it until I passed my godawful licensing exam and then reward myself by reading it. Finally, on June 19th, I passed it!! But I forgot about this treasure until I knocked it out of place while looking for another book. And now the day has arrived and I'm about to read page 1. I anticipate some major reading ecstasy!!

Laurie is 30% done with Paul Simon: The Life [Deckle Edge]
Got only to chapter 8 before I had to return it to the library. (I've been too busy to read more.) I may or may not check it out again. I was definitely enjoying it!

So now I'm reading the revised updated version of this book. I liked the original so much that I bought this one (something I rarely do anymore, being a library reader).

Laurie is on page 183 of 325 of How to Stop Time
This has been slow-going only because I can't squeeze in reading time every night. Or more than 10 or so pages when I can. That said, I like this book tremendously, as I fully expected to. I wish I could just know and hang out with this author!

I'm fully enjoying this so far, liking the way the various characters are portrayed, especially little Pip(squeak). I only wish I could read more each day.

As of last night. And I am liking this book immensely. I keep thinking of the comparisons and contrasts between the character Maddy in this story and the character Yasmin in the book I just finished (Things We Have In Common); they have much in common but I'm rooting for this girl, whereas I just wanted to Yasmin to stfu.

Despite finding this well-written and intriguing overall, I feel some impatience and annoyance with Yasmin's character at this point. I can also easily empathize with her. Possibly this is a reflection of how well-rendered she is as a troubled teenager; it's equally possible that I've grown weary with reading every nuance of her very detailed thoughts, which are fairly predictable.

Tiny print, this is a dense book that's giving me eyestrain at times. Some of rhe descriptors have begun to edge toward monotonous, if only because there are so many, and they're so precise and detailed. I'm really enjoying the biographic stuff about Ian A. and the different band members. I wish there was lots more of this.

I agree with other reviews calling this book a fast and addictive read. Paul Strom is SUCH a douche! But I'm enjoying his narrative nonetheless.
